About 95% of the semifinalists are expected to become finalists, and about half of the finalists will win a national merit scholarship, earning the merit scholar title, according to officials. The 2,500 national merit $2500 scholarship winners were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding finalists in the 2024 national merit scholarship program.
